automx is a tool to provision email account settings. It unifies Microsofts and Mozillas proprietary services into on useful tool. SPECIAL-USE is an IETF standard (RFC) that enables servers to indicate mailboxes for special use (inbox, drafts, sent, archive, …) to mail clients. They can map their local special use folder names upon the servers mailboxes.
Both technologies significantly simplifiy mail setup and handling for end users. And this in turn relieves admins and help-desk people. The talk will introduce you to both - tool and standard. As a bonus it will tell why it is so important to build useful interfaces for end users and why this is so hard - especially for open source projects and communities.
